Course Aim

The 40-hour Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) Course, which includes both our RAM Introduction Course for the first 16 hours and our RAM Practitioners Course for the last 24 hours, is all about teaching participants the key tenets of making a ‘reliable system.’ This course is for those who are new to reliability engineering AND those more experienced engineers wanting to take their skills to the next level. Attendees who design, manufacture or otherwise work for a ‘producer organization’ will learn how to create a ‘reliability mindset’ to prevent problems before they occur. Problems are not limited to failures: reliability engineering at its most efficient and useful eliminates all manners of other problems such as issues identified in final production runs or basic design oversights that require expensive and time-consuming rework.

The first part of the course focuses on organizational management and culture which is always the first step on the journey towards reliability maturity. The last part of the course focuses on ‘RAM practice’ that includes an overview of probability, statistics, test planning, key Design for Reliability (DfR) activities and several other related topics. Students will be taught to focus on the ‘vital few’ ways their product, system, service or process can fail. Which means we only need to worry about the ‘vital few’ things we need to do to quickly and cheaply increase reliability.
